The Woodlands at Cottonwood Canyon | Wedding Venue in Bozeman, MT

April 1, 2020

Nestled just south of Bozeman is this private fairytale venue – surrounded by beautiful pines and and gorgeous foliage, with a trickling creek right down the road.  Full of twinkle lights and stunning scenery.  Searching for wedding venues in Bozeman is time consuming, but if you want a sweet, warm, and family oriented venue with great options for pictures. This venue is perfect!

Last month, the team at the woodlands – Jaslin and Elsa, graciously opened up their beautiful facility for my couple Casey and Mack to shoot a sweet and creative bridal session.   Casey and Mack got married last August, so they are coming up on 8 months of Marriage!   And who knew they’d be putting their wedding attire back on in the snow!

The woodlands is a stunning venue to hold a medium sized wedding. It has a great ceremony location in this field (usually full of lush grass and wildflowers 😉 )  and even has a beautiful intimate bridge with all the twinkle lights leading from the reception and parking to this space.

From a photographers perspective, this space gives us MANY options for beautiful light and options no matter what happens on your wedding day.  We can hop into the trees for some shade, capture golden rays of dreamy light at the end of the field, and even make a little trick down the the creek.

Having one location for your wedding day minimizes so much stress and logistics, and The Woodlands has so many ways of doing that!   Their loft bridal suite is perfect for mimosa’s and laughs with your girls with enough space to move around and dance to your music while getting ready!  The guy’s also get their own space, a perfect man cave with a pool table, darts, and TV!  So yeah…your fiancé and his guys will love that.

They can also take care of linens and setting up your reception, ceremony, and all the in between.  Even if you thrive on planning, this day is about you and your future spouse. So it’s important you soak up all the moments.  The Woodlands is an amazing choice as a wedding venue to achieve that.

So, back to our shoot.  This was one of the coldest day’s of March.   Mack and Casey were rockstars, game for anything, and total lovebirds.  We joked, laughed at each other, and made some beautiful winter portraits together.

The Woodlands also features a wonderful fireplace. Which let me tell you, it felt AMAZING.  We took a few breaks during our shoot outside to unthaw fingers, toes and faces and it was a huge hit.

As a grand finale of the evening, and the whole reason I REALLY wanted to do with shoot – we played with sparklers.  But it almost didn’t happen!  After a dozen tries to get the sparklers to light, and almost calling it a night, we finally got them to light.  and it was so worth it!

Many thanks to The Woodlands team and Casey and Mack for making this shoot happen! We were so blessed with the fresh blanket of snow and gorgeous light.  Looking forward to shooting her again this summer!  So if you are looking for a venue for your wedding, you definitely need to check this place out.
